District of Columbia

In fall 2007 the Washington Humane Society, along with founding partner Alley Cat Allies opened the first ever low-cost Regional Spay/Neuter Center, created specifically to service the entire DC metropolitan area. The National Capital Area Spay & Neuter Cente is located at 1001 L Street on Capitol Hill in Southeast Washington, DC. The new facility will address the desperate need for low-cost spay/neuter of domestic animals with a goal of providing sterilization surgery on up to 75 animals every day, five days a week. The volume of animals will come from the Washington Humane Society Animal Shelter, the DC Animal Shelter (operated by the Washington Humane Society), as well as many other participating shelters, rescue groups and animal control agencies from around the region. Our CatNiPP program www.washhumane.org/catnipp.asp is a distinct component from our general spay/neuter resources – with separate support and pricing. No-cost for stray and feral cats living within DC. $45 per cat for stray and feral cats from anywhere outside of DC – that includes all of the feral services: Sterilization; Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations; Eartip; Flea treatment; Ear cleaning; SQ fluids; and General physical assessment. The Richmond SPCA provides free surgeries only to area residents (living in the City of Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and Goochland) who are: on government assistance; have households with an annual income less than $30,000; are full-time college students; own pit bulls(and strong pit bull mixes);are feral cat caregivers.
