1. Caretaker appreciation baskets or special gifts that we can give now and then to our dedicated staff on behalf of the animals. Gas cards. Gift cards to Wal-Mart, PetsMart, Petco, Food Lion, Giant, Lowes, Home Depot, Sheetz (for Rikki’s in general or as appreciation gifts for staff/volunteers)
2. Industrial, long handled dustpans, soft plastic, like Rubbermaid Lobby Dustpans for pooper scoops ($11.99 buys half a poop scoop). Brooms, spray bottles, garden hoses, rakes, hoes, stainless steel feeding bowls, extension cords, heated water bowls, gravel, straw, hay, oranges, canned tuna fish, meat baby food, grass seed.
3. Lysol-type cleaning wipes, the orange ones with a scrubbie on one side are great. Bleach, paper towels, large heavy duty trash bags, laundry soap, dish washing soap, paper plates/trays/platters for feeding.
4. Medications, antibiotics, vaccines, wormers, advantage, fluids for kidney patients, rubbing alcohol, latex gloves, scissors, gauze, syringes & needles (insulin 1cc 22-27 gauge 1/2″ needle min, 1.5″ 18 gauge needles for fluids, 3cc 22-27 gauge 1-1.5″ needle) for giving medications ($12.99 buys a box of 100), puppy pads (used as cage liners)
5. 3.5″ floppy disks, copy paper, ink cartridges (HP-45 Black, HP-C23 Color, HP-56 Black, HP-57 Color), postage stamps
6. Fire extinguishers for safety ($24.99 buys a good one. Good, strong, durable weather- proof flashlights, rechargeable or with batteries ($5.99 – $59.99). Batteries, C’s, D’s and 9 Volts. 18-volt rechargeable flashlight for those after dark winter chores ($49.99 will keep us lit up all night).
