This is Cangaroo, one of our favorite tripods.
Cangaroo came to us from the country of Qatar. He arrived at the vet in Qatar in a chicken trap with a severely broken leg. Having been warned of his “cougar”-like aggression, the vet gingerly opened the trap to examine him, fully prepared for the worst. To her pleasant surprise she found a tiny looking “thing” with these big confused eyes, just staring, obviously very scared and in pain, but who never uttered a hiss or a growl or a snarl and trusted instantly. The kind vet knew Cangaroo was no feral cat. There was no menace in him at all. And so this little boy got lucky and after his leg was amputated, he stayed in the hospital for a long time to recuperate, with the kind vet as his sole companion. When he eventually left the vet hospital to live in a foster home, he was afraid of all the new sounds and people. But he was always a gentle boy. With time, Cangaroo has developed into a sociable, friendly and loving kitty, and one that would never survive back on the mean streets of Qatar.
So through an amazing sponsorship and a wonderful traveler who agreed to bring Cangaroo and 4 other cats to the US, this little tripod can now live a peaceful gentle life – for the rest of his life – at Rikki’s Refuge Animal Sanctuary.
