So did you know it’s Labor Day? I hear hoomans like to pic-a-nic on Labor Day? I heard mom inviting hoomans over for a pic-a-nic …….. I don’t think she know us aminals wanna pic-a-nic too …. Good Morning !!!! And a Happy Labor Day to YOU !!!! May yours be bright and happy !!! And full of nums … I hope I’m gettin nums …. Today let’s vote for Candy !! Candy was a prize winning jumper. She did all kinds of contests. When she was 12 she had a terrible accident trying to do a jump that was just too big for her. She fell and was very badly injured. Her owner left with the ribbons she’d won …. but left Candy behind. After awhile the people who owned the pasture Candy was at said we’re gonna sell this horse to the market – not a nice place – cus nobody is paying her rent. And so Candy came to live at Rikki’s. It was another couple years before she was walking right. Now she can run and play and enjoys life. She’ll never be able to jump and she needs some special care and meds twice a day. And she’ll have love and friends and a big green pasture for all the rest of her days. Please vote Rikkis Refuge, VA, USA in the Shelter Challenge today … and every day !! Thank you, Opie

Early in July 2014, we were visited by Girl Scout Troop 527! These wonderful young ladies worked very hard for a long time raising donations, food, litter and supplies for Rikki’s Refuge! You will see by the photos in this album that they even helped unload all the supplies and put them away! TEAMWORK ALL THE WAY! Good job ladies! We hope that these awesome kids enjoyed their visit here with us, because we sure enjoyed theirs!

Phew! We were BUSY today! Tagging and pricing, tagging and pricing. Although we got a lot done, we hardly made a dent in what is in the stockroom. But, we’ll keep plugging away! We have another work day scheduled for this Sunday (the 31st) so we will be closed again. In the meantime, come and shop what we’ve put out! The clothes racks are STUFFED! And check out the Christmas! We even found some Dept. 56 Hide-a-Way Hollow items!

And look at the beautiful pumpkin/harvest table that Helen made! See the little furry thing on the bottom shelf? That’s Claudia’s way of helping. 

The cats had a blast running around all day. As the afternoon wore on, they tired out a bit, and looked for new places to relax….

And don’t forget that the Paws to the Rescue booth is half price! This is their final week — let’s empty out their booth!!!! Shopping their booth helps to save the lives of animals in a high kill shelter!
