Please dress for the weather and farm conditions. Closed-toe shoes/boots, jeans are best, bring a sweater – it’s all outdoors. There are no indoor facilities; there is a well-maintained porta-potty by the barn close to parking.

We love animals! To keep ours & yours safe, we can not allow yours on the Refuge grounds or left in your vehicle, no matter the situation, it’s too dangerous for any non-resident animals to be on the property.

Everyone must complete & sign a liability release form. Legal parent/guardian must sign for all minor children. You cannot sign for your friend’s or relative’s children. Forms will be available at Refuge.

When you donate to Rikki’s Refuge, 97.8% of your money goes directly to caring for the animals. Our overhead is so low because volunteers do all the administrative work, fundraising, accounting. No high paid executives here.

Growth and development of the county means so many acres of woods leveled to the ground, habitat destroyed, never to be returned to it’s rightful owners, the wild animals, homes and nests destroyed, animals killed, babies left in nests on the ground left to die, babies in dens starving to death; wetlands filled in, destroying homes and lives. Some animals can escape and run for protected woods and wetlands, some can’t and they die. We welcome those who come seeking refuge here. The big ones, bear, deer, fox, bobcats, and the small ones, frogs, turtles, birds, spiders, snakes.

Our 300 acres of woods and wetlands will always be there for them.

The domestic animals and farm animals have the remaining 150 acres for their homes.

A cool 48 degrees to start this beautiful morning off.

Our wish today, as it is every day, is to have enough food to go round. It’s a tough challenge with all the mouths to feed. The price of feed of every sort, from cow to cat, from donkey to dog,

and everybody in between has gone up dramatically over the last few years. Donations haven’t gone up as much as our costs. We need your help more than ever. Would you be willing to skip that donut, or special cup of coffee, or an afternoon snack to help the animals have enough to eat? Did you know Rikki’s Refuge has 300 acres of pristine woods and wetlands just for the native wildlife? This is so important with all the hooman growth that is happening. So many wooded areas are being chopped down for more housing, more shopping, more more more for the hoomans. And where do the animals who called that home go? Many wonder to the woods at Rikki’s Refuge and find safe haven. Hoomans fill in wetlands, destroy beaver dams, steal their homes and put up hooman habitats. So many many animals displaced with the clearing of just one acre of land. And thousands and thousands of acres are being cleared every year. Help the animals.
