Just a little moon this morning to start the day with.

With the Life Center shiny clean …….

I told Fabio it’s dark outside and he’s a indoor cat, so he can’t come out to help me. And what did he do?

He took my extra headlamp and says he’s ready to help me outside!!

It sure is nice that now, with spring, I only need my head lamp till about 6:10 am. Then the sun is up !!

Crybaby says good morning.

The look on Nibbs face says he doesn’t believe Maximus when he says, “No Vacancy in MY Box”.

Singing for breakfast.

The tractor can’t get close to fences, trees and other tight spots. So I’m trying to get as much mowing in before it’s time to start the afternoon clean up.

The peacocks just live to show off !!

Piglet says it’s just one of those days to spend in the mud !!

A lovely 62 degrees out this morning as I start my day.

The first animals I visit have already started breakfast.

But they’re getting excited about the special nums I’ll be bringing them soon.

Moon is only about 1/8 out this morning, so not much light to work by. Sure glad I have my headlamp !!! I usually start and end my days by the light of my headlamp.

But the Sun will be up soon and it looks like a beautiful day ahead !

The early bird gets the worm …… except around here …. at Rikki’s Refuge the early bird gets the litterboxes ….. yippie !!! But the cats do so appreciate a clean up !!

Bella says GOOD MORNING !!!!! And look at that beautiful sunrise !!! One of the joys of early morning on the job is getting to watch the sunrise every day !!!!

On warm and hot days, even if the waters have stayed cleaned from the morning change out, we dump and refill in the middle of the day so all the animals have nice cold water all day long. If we deserve cool water – so do they !!

Joey and Milo are playing some kind of blinking game with each other. I’m not sure who wound up winning. These two are always up to something together.

Clarence just finished the first mowing of the year. Everything is so green this time of year, and starting to grow like crazy. Hey !!! Got a mower? Weed whacker? Think about VOLUNTEERING and coming out to HELP up !!

Dark clouds are starting to come in ….. I think it might rain this evening.

So there’s 2 sides to every coin, as you know. But did YOU know there are two sides to some of our pigs !!! Mud is the pigs’ best friend !!

It’s getting ready to storm tonight. Thunder is in the distance. Gotta rush to get everything done before it starts pouring.

Rikki’s Christmas Day tour has been cancelled.  This weather is just too cold.  I’m sorry, we’ll resume tours and fun when the world warms up !!

Saturday Donation Drop Off will not be staffed until further notice.  There will be a box or truck at the gate where you can leave donations.  I’m sorry we can’t leave the gate open for you to visit animals.  For your and their safety, we must have a docent on site with visitors.

We do hope to see you soon.

Lauren was at Rikki’s Refuge No-Kill Life-Care Sanctuary scrambling in the rain yesterday (she’s there EVERY day!) to get this emergency goat pen put together …..

It’s a temporary fix because these goats needed a home in an emergency.

Two daddys,

two babies.

Where’s mommey?

They were living near train tracks …. goats are notorious escape artists …. they did what goats often do … escaped.

But they didn’t come wandering back home.

Mom was hit by a train. By the time the conductor could see her, it was too late to stop the train. She just looked at the train and didn’t get off the tracks. The guys ran home and back thru the broken fence.

And a new and safe home was needed NOW, with someone loving and kind just like Lauren to bottle feed them and be their mom till they grow up. And here they are at Rikki’s Refuge.

They’re too little to be outside in a pen on a cold and rainy day like this. But they’ll get time to spend with their dad’s when it’s dry and warm. In the meantime, the cats in the 9th Life Retirement, Assisted Living and Psychiatric center will help keep them warm and cared for.
